OUR PROJECTS
JewsVote.org
Since early in 2007, Jews have been the target of a rumor campaign, intended to spread misinformation and sow mistrust. Many Jews, with the best of intentions, forwarded these emails to others in their networks. These rumors eventually moved from email to one-on-one communications among friends and family. The cumulative effect of these dirty tricks has been to leave many in the Jewish community angry and confused, while some are fearful that the Democratic nominee and possibly the next President does not have their interests at heart.
JewsVote.org provides users with a range of (off and on-line) tools to initiate conversations with other Jews about Barack Obama. Its goal is to engage tens of thousands of Jews in conversations, to learn more about the anger, confusion, and fear that is manifest among our friends and families. Ultimately, we want to help assuage some of these fears by presenting information about Obama in a straightforward manner. JewsVote.org does support Obama for President, but we recognize that he will not be the choice of all Jews. We simply want to ensure that our community has a more complete picture of the two candidates before casting their vote for president.
The Great Schlep
TheGreatSchlep.com encourages young Jews to visit their grandparents in Florida - or relatives in other swing states - during the Columbus Day weekend. Each will bring a set of tools made available through TheGreatSchlep.com to help facilitate conversations about the election. Since many will not be able make the trip, the on-line tools available on JewsVote.org will be utilized on TheGreatSchlep.com. This will allow "virtual Schleps" to occur over the course of the election cycle. TheGreatSchlep.com is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to introduce into the political process young, mostly un-affiliated Jews, as Jews.
Many have asked, "Is the Great Schlep working?" See for yourself...
